In many cases, no one has retained counsel for you absent some heads up that the charge is pending, and you had time to reach out to a lawyer.

You can expect to see your attorney in short order through the attorney appointment process.

Appointed counsel should do the same despite the disparity in pay.

Under Tex. Code Crim. Proc. Art. 26.04(j)(1), once an attorney has been appointed, contact with the client must occur by the end of the next first working day if the client is confined

Appointed attorneys must interview the client “as soon as practicable” or face removal from the case and possibly the appointment list.

Lawyer client communication is an important aspect of dealing with your legal issue.

Make sure your attorney knows what you want and makes effort to keep lines of communication open.
