A LAWYER WITH EXPERIENCE AS DEEP AS IT IS WIDE
Matt Zimmerman was born and raised in Round Rock, Texas – (at that time a small town) north of Austin, Texas, and the city has been recognized annually for nearly 30 years as one of the most diverse and fastest-growing cities in the United States.
After high school, Matt was excited to pursue college baseball here in Abilene at Abilene Christian University in 2003. He soon realized the greater potential in the College of Business Administration. Matt graduated with a double major in Finance & Accounting, and a minor in Bible, Missions, and Ministry from ACU in 2007.
However, when Matt’s friends were preparing to become accountants, Matt left higher education to go exploring traveling the US and Central America.
For three years after graduation Matt traveled, living in places like Antigua, Guatemala where Matt learned to speak Spanish. To Denver, Colorado, where Matt learned what it was like to work hard at a low-wage job, struggle to make rent, and miss Texas.
Matt’s practice areas focus primarily on Family Law, Civil Law, Personal Injury, and Contract Litigation. However, Matt also regularly represents clients in matters dealing with the Texas Estates Code, which includes probate and guardianship cases.
Matt moved back to Round Rock in 2009 where he worked as an interim youth minister at his home church and began preparing to enter law school. He entered the Texas Tech School of Law in the fall of 2010. In December of 2013, Matt graduated with another joint degree: a Juris Doctorate, and a Masters in Business Administration. Matt’s law school electives focused on trial law, real estate, oil and gas, and other civil litigation subjects.
After law school, Matt spent time as a landman in Midland, Texas focused mainly on real estate title research. Once he passed the Texas bar exam in 2014; however, Matt jumped into the courtroom immediately.
In the years since being licensed, Matt has been lead counsel and litigated hundreds of cases on subject matters that run the civil litigation gamut, and has been lead counsel or co-counsel in dozens of jury trials. Few lawyers achieve the wide range of experience and success across practice areas that Matt Zimmerman has.
In 2018 Matt was recognized as a Top 40 Under 40 for Family Law by the American Academy of Attorneys.
Two years later in 2020, Matt was again recognized as a Top 40 Under 40, this time by the National Association of Trial Lawyers.
