A client with a lengthy history of drug use came to us with an assault allegation, an offense, and a type of behavior she never condoned.

She was honest about her past and proud of her decade-long sobriety.

BUT, she was accused of assault by someone she knew and loved.

She went to jail because her record made the decision for the arresting officer easy.

However, an independent investigation into the alleged facts by our office showed a different story, a story we told to the prosecutor so the state attorney had a full picture of her case.

The case was dismissed.
