RESULTS: Our client was a man with intellectual disability issues with no criminal history and no allegations regarding inappropriate contact with children. State’s initial offer was 10 years in prison, the maximum sentence.
Through negotiation and presentation of mitigating evidence regarding client and circumstances as well as demonstrating the State the willingness to go to trial, State changed the offer to deferred adjudication probation and the client accepted.
