Katherine Nicole “Nikki” Proa is an experienced criminal defense attorney with Blizzard and Zimmerman Attorneys and resides in Houston, Texas.

Nikki works on each case with a keen eye for detail, precision, and compassion for her clients in misdemeanor and felony courts.

Her caseload includes DWI’s, Assault Bodily Injury, Assault Family Violence, and Theft just to name a few.

AN ASSERTIVE ADVOCATE FOR YOUR RIGHTS

Nikki’s wide knowledge of criminal law and procedure allows her to assertively advocate for her clients in post-conviction matters ranging from Aggravated Assault to Capital Murder in appeals, motions for a new trial, petitions for discretionary review, and 11.07 writs of habeas corpus.

She is experienced in pretrial and trial misdemeanor and felony matters, including entrance into DWI Pretrial Intervention to help her clients.

Her compassion and preparation is evident in every case she handles and every client she represents.

As a criminal defense attorney Nikki Proa understands that a person is not defined by the crimes they are accused of, and everyone deserves genuine empathy, personalized attention, and fierce advocacy.

At the University of Houston Law Center she obtained a Grade Point Average, GPA: 3.249( 30%).

She is a member of a number of legal organizations including the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston, and the Mexican American Bar Association.

Nikki was born and raised in Laredo, Texas, and graduated valedictorian of her high school class.

For college, Nikki attended the Ivy League Institution, Brown University, and graduated with an Honors Degree in Classics.

She attended the University of Houston Law Center where she served as President of the Hispanic Law Student’s Association and a competitor/brief writer on the moot court team.

COMPASSION FOR CRIMINAL LAW – FIERCE ADVOCACY

During law school, Nikki clerked for Hochglaube and Deborde in Houston, Schaffer Law Offices in Houston, Carmen Roe Law firm in Houston, Harris County District Attorney’s Office, United States Attorney’s Office Appellate Division, and federal district court judges Alfred H. Bennet in Houston and Marina Garcia Marmolejo in Laredo.

She was also a research assistant to Newell H. Blakely Professor of Law Sandra Guerra Thompson on scientific evidence – a resurging area of post-conviction law.
